L1 Engineer Job Description

Job Summary

The L1 Engineer plays a crucial role in addressing and resolving basic technical issues reported by users. As a first-line support technician, you will be the initial point of contact for technical support and will work to troubleshoot and escalate more complex issues to higher support levels. Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line support to users encountering technical issues, ensuring quick resolution and minimal downtime.
  • Diagnose and resolve basic hardware and software problems, utilizing your knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams (L2/L3) for further investigation and resolution.
  • Respond to and manage incoming technical support requests through various channels such as phone, email, or ticketing systems.
  • Perform initial diagnostics and troubleshooting to resolve basic technical problems efficiently.
  • Assist users with system access, software installation, and configuration, ensuring they can effectively utilize the necessary tools.
  • Document and track issues, solutions, and updates in a ticketing system to maintain detailed records of user interactions and resolutions.
  • Follow up with users to ensure timely resolution of their issues, providing excellent customer service and maintaining a high level of satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to ensure a seamless and effective support experience for end-users.
  • Stay updated on the latest hardware and software technologies, acquiring new skills and knowledge to improve your efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a technical support or customer service role.
  • Basic knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), hardware, and software applications.
  • Familiarity with network fundamentals such as DNS, IP addressing, and remote troubleshooting tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear and professional interaction with users.
  • Customer-oriented attitude with the ability to empathize with users' technical problems.
  • Detail-oriented approach when diagnosing problems and documenting solutions.
