Job Description: A store keeper is an integral part of any retail team and is crucial in the successful running and management of the store. This role is responsible for ensuring the store is stocked with the desired products, overseeing inventory and store operations, and leading and managing a team of sales associates. A store keeper must be detail-oriented, organized, and hands-on in order to successfully carry out this role.
Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of a store keeper are to ensure the store runs smoothly, order and receive inventory, maintain merchandise levels, lead and manage store staff, and ensure regulatory compliance. In detail, these duties include:
- Order and Receive Inventory: Plan and order the store’s inventory, keeping in mind sales trends, seasonality, and customer preferences. Load and unload stock quickly and efficiently when it arrives.
- Inventory Management: Ensure that all items are well-stocked and updated on a regular basis. Monitor stock levels for inventory adjustments and deploy personnel to manage stock.
- Lead and Manage Store Staff: Coordinate and oversee daily activities of the store team, creating an efficient and friendly environment for customers. Train and develop new staff and plan rotating schedules.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the store follows all regulations and safety protocols. Monitor store safety and security procedures to prevent theft, damage, or injury.
