Tax Assistant Job Description
Job Summary
A tax assistant is a valuable member of a tax team, providing support to tax management, assisting with data collection, tax computation, and identifying tax savings and credits. As a tax assistant, you will work closely with tax managers, senior accountants, and clients to ensure accurate and timely tax filings. - Filing tax returns with local, state, and federal agencies within designated timelines.
- Reviewing and preparing reports such as property tax reports and sales tax exemption certificates.
- Communicating with clients and other relevant entities to address tax-related queries and issues.
- Maintaining detailed records of all tax information, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
Job Requirements
To succeed as a tax assistant, you should meet the following requirements:
- A minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Proven knowledge of tax accounting principles and tax filing procedures.
- Excellent data entry and accounting skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Familiarity with corporate tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in bookkeeping processes and financial record-keeping.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
